The ZIP file format is a popular data compression and archival format. A ZIP file contains one or more files that have been compressed or stored. PNG files use the same compression format. (This means PNG files don't compress well when put in a ZIP archive, since it's already compressed using the same format.)

A TSZ file is just a zip file renamed with the TSZ extension. This allows Trillian to set itself as the handler for those types of files to allow users to install skins more easily.
